The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has proposed engaging in discussions with Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra to establish a world-class school aimed at training professionals in the hospitality and tourism industry.

According to her, there is a need to foster excellence in the hospitality industry to enhance the country’s tourism offerings and create employment opportunities for local professionals, as well positively impact tourism in the country positively.

Speaking at the 10th anniversary media launch of Kempinski Hotel on April 3, 2025, Dzifa Gomashie said such an institution would not only improve skills but also promote Ghana’s rich hospitality heritage to an international audience.

“I am surprised that Kempinski has not offered to build a modern multipurpose school to train the industry players. The whole value chain needs a training school. The ministry has land, let’s talk,” she stated.

For his part, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, expressed his appreciation for the role Kempinski Hotel has played in boosting Ghana’s tourism and trade sectors.

He commended the enduring partnership between the GJA and Kempinski Hotel, which has lasted for over eight years.

As part of measures to fully commemorate its 10th anniversary, Kempinski Hotel has unveiled a series of initiatives designed to enhance its culinary and bar offerings in line with the latest industry trends.

The General Manager of the hotel, Hanno Barkhoff, said the hotel is introducing a new gourmet and bar experience to suit the hospitality industry in Ghana.
